A Year After The Boy Who Played the Harp: Dave’s Homecoming Celebration of his Nigerian Heritage
When Dave released The Boy Who Played the Harp on October 24, 2025, “Raindance” quickly emerged as its biggest Nigerian song. But almost a year later, the album’s Nigerian chart story is bigger than one hit. Dave will be in Nigeria for two back-to-back events at the National Theatre on October 16 and 17.
The project debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Official Top 100 Albums chart with 49 weeks spent. The Boy Who Played the Harp has recorded 43 million streams in Nigeria while also earning a Gold certification.
Additionally, Dave has collaborated with other Nigerian acts like BOJ, Wizkid and twice with Burna Boy, including on their track “LOCATION” which is Platinum-certified in Nigeria, with over 16.5 million on-demand streams.
Every song on The Boy Who Played the Harp found its way onto the Official Nigeria Top 100 Singles Chart.
“Raindance” featuring Tems led the way, debuting at No. 10 and eventually reaching No. 7. “History” followed at No. 34, while “175 Months” and “Chapter 16” opened at 61 and 62, respectively. “No Weapons” made its debut at No. 74, “My 27th Birthday” at No. 77, and “Selfish” at No. 80.
The album’s title track entered at No. 82, while “Fairchild” and “Marvellous” completed the project’s Nigerian chart entries at 92 and 98, respectively.
Now, as Dave brings The Boy Who Played the Harp tour to Lagos, he is not simply bringing a recent album home. This 2-day homecoming is a celebration of the British-Nigerian artist’s heritage, and an opportunity to hear how the album sits alongside the older music that has long existed in his catalogue, including songs that have found their own places with Nigerian listeners.
