“Cough (ODO),” the lead single for EMPIRE’s Africa compilation album Where We Are From is aiming for one of the biggest debuts in a week.
The song is already leading the current tracking week of October 14 – 20 and is now aiming to debut at No. 1 on the aggregate Nigeria Top 100 – where it would be Kizz Daniel’s fourth No. 1 entry and EMPIRE’s first as a billed artiste. Next week’s Nigeria Top 100 will be revealed on Monday, October 24.
Additionally, “Cough” is aiming to become only the second song ever to launch at No. 1 on every platform it is available on in its debut week – joining Davido’s “FEM” which achieved same feat during the week of September 11 – 17, 2020.
So far into the tracking week, YouTube is the only platform it is yet to reach No. 1 on the daily chart – however, it ranks at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively with its audio version and visualizer. At the end of the week, the two versions will be combined for its total streams in its debut week.
It is important to note that “FEM” also debuted at No. 1 on the TV chart in Nigeria – however, “Cough” does not have an official video yet. As such, it is not available for tracking on TV.
“Cough (ODO)” is the follow-up to Kizz Daniel’s “Buga (Lo Lo Lo)” with Tekno, which was No. 1 for seven weeks in Nigeria this year.
