Jomapel Yankee Keeps His Hot Streak Alive with “Friends With Benefits” Featuring Fido
Sierra Leonean Afrobeats artiste, Jomapel Yankee is keeping the momentum firmly in motion. Following the release of two well received singles this year, the Cyprus-based artiste returns with his latest offering, “Friends With Benefits”, featuring Nigerian Afrobeats rising star Fido.
The new record sees Yankee leaning further into the playful, flirtatious side of his artistry, pairing infectious Afropop rhythms with a story built around attraction, chemistry, and a relationship that refuses to fit neatly into traditional labels.
Where ‘C’est La Vie’ captured Yankee's carefree, globe-trotting energy and ‘Jalla’ continued his run of rhythm-driven releases, this new single brings a more conversational and mischievous energy to the catalogue. Fido's contribution adds another dimension to the record, creating a meeting point between Sierra Leonean and Nigerian Afrobeats sensibilities.
The collaboration also reflects Yankee's growing connection to Nigeria's music ecosystem as he continues to build his profile internationally. From his base in Cyprus, the Sierra Leonean artiste has steadily expanded his reach across Europe and Africa, using collaborations and live performances to connect with audiences beyond his home country.
The release arrives on the back of an increasingly active period for Yankee. His recent run has included performances across Europe, a standout opening performance at Davido's 5ive Alive Tour in Zurich, a headline show at Club Teez, and a listening experience at Urban Vibe in Cyprus. Earlier in the year, he also returned home to Sierra Leone for a headline performance at Chapter One alongside Nigerian stars Tekno and Masterkraft, while continuing his mission to represent Sierra Leone on international stages.
As he continues to move between Sierra Leone, Cyprus, Nigeria, and the wider European scene, Friends With Benefits arrives as the latest soundtrack to an artiste firmly in his hot streak, and still building.
