Blulyt Releases EP ‘Shades of Blu’ EP, a Genre-Blending Statement of Arrival

Pan-African artiste Blulyt has released her debut EP, ‘Shades of Blu,’ via Pond Entertainment. The five-track project moves fluidly across Afro-fusion, Amapiano log drums, R&B, and electronic pop, built around timely messages of today.

The title plays on her name, Blu, as light, current, feeling in motion. That range shows up track to track: the sultry confidence of “Kontrol” gives way to the vulnerability of “Ready,” then the Afropop drive of “Want It All,” before the EP closes out on the dancefloor energy of “Teka” and “Areyeng.”

“Want It All” is the project’s thesis; chasing what you want, while refusing to shrink for anyone standing in the way. As Blulyt put it: “We’re coming with something different. The world isn’t ready.”

Executive produced by Pond Entertainment, the EP features production from Kulboi, Rexmadeit, and Teezsmart. A background in drama shows in Blulyt’s stage presence, matched by a visual identity built on cerulean, midnight blue, and chrome. 

She has been called “a dynamic and unapologetically fresh female talent whose sound refuses to be boxed in.”
