Dalex and Boy Spyce's “Super Woman” Continues Afrobeats' Growing Love Affair With Latin Music
Over the last few years, collaborations between Afrobeats and Latin music have become increasingly common, depicting the growing commercial and cultural ties between two of the world's most influential music movements. The latest example is “Super Woman,” which pairs Puerto Rican singer Dalex with Nigerian musician Boy Spyce. Arriving at a time when Afro-Latin collaborations have become a familiar part of today's global music, the record continues a creative exchange that has produced some of the most commercially successful cross-cultural records in recent years.
Musically, “Super Woman” leans into the strengths that have made Afro-Latin collaborations so effective. Dalex opens the record with a smooth, melodic delivery that sits comfortably atop the vibrant production of Kénsel Tell Them, immediately establishing the song's warmth. Boy Spyce follows with a heartfelt performance, delivering lyrics that celebrate and admire the "super woman" at the centre of the record. The production by Colombian producer Kénsel Tell Them, deserves equal mention. Its rhythmic bounce, and soothing backing vocals create such a listening experience that is both danceable and easy on the ears. Dalex's use of indigenous expressions further enriches the record.
The commercial success of these collaborations is evident in their growing appeal amongst Nigerian listeners. One of the biggest examples remains Omah Lay’s “soso (Remix)” featuring Ozuna, which contributed to the No. 2 peak of the original version in its release week.
Other releases such as Burna Boy's “Rollercoaster” with J Balvin peaked at No. 21 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 chart, spending 9 weeks on the chart and accumulating more than 14.4 million on-demand streams till date. Oxlade's remix of “Ku Lo Sa” featuring Camila Cabello also peaked at No. 12, spending 15 weeks on the chart with 13 million on-demand streams amassed till date.
More recently, Shakira's “Dai Dai” featuring Burna Boy climbed to No. 7. The 2026 FIFA World Cup track has over 3.1 million on-demand streams in Nigeria and 270 million radio impressions since its release. Burna Boy has also further explored the space through collaborations with Becky G, with “Rotate” reaching No. 8 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 chart, while Ayra Starr has explored it through collaborations with Brazilian star Anitta on “Woman Commando,” and Asake featured LUDMILLA on “Whine”.
The success of these records is hardly surprising. Afrobeats and Latin music share many of the same musical characteristics, ranging from the production to the dance-centred performances. Dalex and Boy Spyce’s team-up on “Super Woman” feels like a natural addition to this growing Afro-Latin catalogue.
