The curtains rose on the 67th Grammy Awards in a night filled with emotions, as creatives celebrated their first wins while others added more accolades to their names.

Tems – A Two-Time Grammy Awards Winner

Nigerian singer Tems made history once again, becoming a two-time Grammy winner after securing the Best Global Music Performance award for her solo track “Love Me Jeje.” She triumphed over fellow Nigerian nominees Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Davido, Lojay, and Burna Boy, making her the second-ever winner of this category since its introduction in 2024.

Tems' debut album, ‘Born in the Wild’, was also nominated for Best Global Music Album, alongside Rema’s sophomore project ‘HEIS’. However, the award went to Matt B and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for their project ‘ALKEBULAN II.’ Additionally, her song “Burning” from the same album was nominated for Best R&B Performance but lost to SZA’s “Saturn.”

Other Notable Moments

Legendary singer Angélique Kidjo lost in the Best Global Music Performance category, where her track “Sunlight to My Soul” (a collaboration with the Soweto Gospel Choir) was defeated by Sheila E. featuring Gloria Estefan & Mimy Succar’s “Bemba Colora.”

Rap icon Kendrick Lamar added three more Grammys to his collection, bringing his total to 22 Grammy wins. He secured victories in Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Music Video for his hit “Not Like Us.”

Meanwhile, despite Chris Brown’s “Sensational” featuring Davido & Lojay not winning in the Best African Music Performance category, his album ‘11:11 (Deluxe)’ was crowned Best R&B Album of the year.
