Sarkodie Shares New Album Titled No Pressure
The title No Pressure refers to SARKODIE’s supreme confidence in his craft, as he settles into a new phase in his career that finds him increasingly visible on the world stage.“I always want to open doors to other territories, to other audiences, new people who might relate to my music,” SARKODIE says. “Some people sell out who they are to try and be accepted in different places. I know who I am and what my sound is, and that’s something I try not to lose because my authenticity is my power.”
Musically, the project is centered in rap, with a touch of afrobeats, these worlds blending seamlessly on tracks like “No Fugazy.” As he has throughout his career, SARKODIE delivers hard-hitting rhymes in a crisp blend of his native tongue Twi and English, reaching out to the world while speaking directly to his people in Ghana.
Beyond his own music, SARKODIE has embarked on a new role as creative director for this year’s Ghana Party in the Park festival in London. The first major African music fest in the U.K. since the easing of pandemic restrictions, the event is set for this Saturday, July 24th, at London’s Trent Park.
No Pressure is executive produced by SARKODIE and KJ Spio for SarkCess Music, Eagle Plug and Ceek.
