• Tiwa Savage Set To Make Top Airplay Chart History

Tiwa Savage is set for some chart history next week

Tiwa Savage’s “Temptation” featuring Sam Smith is set to move into the top 10 of next week’s Top Airplay Chart, making her the first artiste to record three top 10 entries as a lead artiste. “Temptation,” co-written by Fireboy DML, is the fourth single off her newly released album, Celia.

The album has already spurned two top 10 singles on the national airplay chart; “Dangerous Love,” which peaked at No. 4 and “Koroba,” which debuted and peaked at No. 7.

It is important to note that three other artistes have recorded three top 10 entries before Tiwa Savage – Burna Boy being the first, achieved the feat with the debut of “My Oasis” (another entry shared with Sam Smith) while Omah Lay and Adekunle Gold joined that elite list with the debut of “PAMI” (shared with Dj Tunez & Wizkid) at No. 4. Burna Boy has since added another top 10 entry with “Way Too Big” which rose to a new peak of No. 9 on this week’s chart.

However, Tiwa Savage is set to record all her top ten entries as a lead artiste. “Temptation” debuted at No. 34 on this week’s chart following a 3-day tracking period; it was released on Tuesday, August 25 (TurnTable Charts employs a Friday to Thursday tracking period for Top Airplay Chart).

In the process, Sam Smith would also become the first non-Nigerian artiste with multiple top ten entries on the chart, having previously reached No. 7 with "My Oasis" featuring Burna Boy. Master KG & Nomcebo Zikode both reached No. 2 with "Jerusalema (Remix) [with Burna Boy] while Wizkid's "Smile" featuring H.E.R peaked at No. 6 (all three artistes have one top 10 entry each).

Next week’s Top Airplay Chart will be revealed on Monday, September 7. You can listen to Celia the album here
